Doritos you never tasted so good!

Although I thought the Super Bowl ads this year didn't stand up to Super Bowl ads of the past, there were some good ones. Chrystler shelled out a lot of money to try and regain there prestige and clout in the car industry, which I think they did a good job of. Other companies like Groupon has caught a lot of heat due to their ad which tried to make light of the situation in Tibet (Never a good doing something like that). But the one's that I really thought was hilarious turned out to be the cheapest to make. Doritos did a contest this year that allowed people to make there own 30 second ads and submit them into a contest where 5 would be picked but only 3 would be aired. This was a GENIUS idea for Doritos because they got some really funny commercials. Each of the 5 finalists were awarded $25,000 and had the opportunity to win $1,000,000 if they ranked first in the US Today AD Meter, $600,000 for second and $400,000 for third. Then on top of that if they all would have taken the top 3 they would have each gotten another $1,000,000 with the number one winning a contract with Doritos to help make more commercials. With one of the Doritos commercial's taking first and the other two making it into the top 5 it has stirred up a bit of a debate. Do these Exec's get to much money and to much credit for the ads they come up with? Especially when taking into consideration that the winner was a free lance editor and web designer who spend $500 to make the entire ad. Food for thought.
