The article below has a few examples of athletes putting their foot in their mouth through the Twitter world. While some athletes use Twitter to support charities and connect with fans, many athletes use Twitter to bring about trouble and drama. Two examples of players affecting themselves negatively from the article are J.R. Smith and Courtney Fortson. J.R. Smith currently has a Twitter account, but originally had to take it down because his account showed gang affiliations by what he said and how he typed. However, Courtney Fortson is on a whole different level of stupidity. Fortson, the Arkansas point guard, tweeted “Im gettin it at workouts like a dude who doesn't understand the word no from a drunk girl lol”. Not only is this stupid because it sends the wrong message, but some of his teammates were under investigation for an alleged rape case. I can only imagine how his stupid tweet affected their lives through the investigation.
