What??? You mean that Andy Reid is not getting fired and Jon Gruden isn't replacing him? Aww man... I really thought that you could believe everything on the interent. Well apparently some people really do think that, including Ashley Zavala, a young reporter from Philadelphia for a TV station in Columbia. She reported this so called "news" came from an "inside source". So who is this inside source you ask? Kyle Eckle, a fullback who played with the patriots in 2007 and the eagles after he was cut from the patriots in 20008, posted on his facebook last Sunday “John Gruden is in Philadelphia right now shacked up in a hotel getting ready for something. My guess is he’s not about to join the Flyers’ coaching staff. New Eagles head coach? Looking like it.”
Pro athletes use social media for various reasons but it is getting out of hand. Now any little comment or rumor that they post online can turn into "news" with the drop of a dime. Philadelphia then had to take the time and energy to come out with a statement denying any of these claims that were going around about the head coach position. The guy has been there since 1999... really?? They released the following statement “Early this morning we received several inquiries regarding the rumors regarding Andy Reid and Jon Gruden. This was simply a rumor and there is no basis to it at all. It is simply not true.”
So where do you draw the line on what is news and what is not?
