Groupon Hurts Itself

Most companies expect a big boost in there business when they advertise during the Super Bowl but online coupon discounter Groupon paid for three commercials that led to lots of negative publicity. Their commercials seemed to make light of the troubles in Tibet, made fun of saving the whales, and the devastation of Brazil's rainforest. Rarely do Super Bowl commercials backfire but Groupon's commercials have brought itself a lot of controversy. I think it was dumb of them to put out a commercial like this on the Super Bowl and risk all the possible backlash they could receive especially with how things become so talked about with social media. Groupon has since said that they intend to raise money for the groups they made fun of.
