The article revolves around Christina Aguilera's mistake while singing the National Anthem before the Super Bowl. As we all saw or heard, she accidently mixed up the lyrics and resang a previous line of the song. Even after she publicly humiliated herself, she continued to sing beautifully throughout the rest of the song. I chose this article because it points out that in a poll asked this morning, 67% of respondants said her mistake is unforgivable and a disgrace to the country. I agree that if you're being honored enough to sing during the most popular television event, you should be well prepared, but at the same time, it really could happen to anyone. There's not one person that can honestly say while singing a song, they haven't goofed up a word at some point. If the country can forgive drug dealers and corrupt politicians, but not a singer who mixed up lyrics, we clearly have our priorities and values mixed up.
Another thing that's not mentioned in the article but that I feel is important is how fast the media gets wind of these types of occurances. I was on my way to watch the game when I heard about the incident on the radio, not five minutes after it happened. The radio DJ mentioned how Twitter was already being blown up with nothing but jokes about Christina Aguilera. This comes to show how even if it wasn't the biggest event on T.V., millions of people around the country would know about it within minutes.
