Is Carmelo Anthony really on the move? I think not. The world wide sports leader, ESPN, has continued with this story for the past three weeks. Every update states that Carmelo could be traded to the New Jersey Nets within the next 24 hours. Honestly, I've lost track of how many hours it has been since I first witnessed that headline. Carmelo is going no where fast and I will tell you why.
Carmelo wants to be with a winner, the exact opposite of the New Jersey Nets organization. Another reason is that Carmelo holds all of the cards. He has the power to become a free agent or sign an extension whenever he feels like it. No on can force him to sign an extension with the Nuggets, or any other team. The last reason why Carmelo will stay a Nugget until the 2011 summer is because he is not a sure thing. The Nuggets organization is asking for a lot in return for Carmelo, and no one is going to trade an entire roster for a player unwilling to sign an extension.
I personally enjoy the players having a little more power in their hands and taking advantage of the system. Too often are they the ones told that it is a business when they are traded or cut from a team with no regard. Though I do not like Lebron James, he has started an evolution in the NBA when it comes to free agency.
