Salary Cut for Burton Snowboard Company

Keeping it as fair as possible, Burton Snowboard Company has been forced to decrease their employment salaries due to the challenging global economic situation. Lessening their own salaries, owners Jake and Dona Carpenter, choose to decrease those who have a higher yearly income in hopes of eliminating job loss. Also to help the company struggle, Burton has cancelled all bonuses, increases for the North America division, and reducing the company’s 401k match from 4% to 1%.

Although they made a conscious effort, Burton still had to reduce their employee count by 5 %, leaving their overall staff at 663. "This has been a very painful process for us, and considering the global economic situation, we've done everything in our power to save as many jobs as possible," said Burton CEO Laurent Potdevin.
