Stafon Johnson files suit against USC

A former University of Southern California running back files a lawsuit against the school Monday. Back in 2009, during a mandatory team workout one afternoon, Stafon Johnson had an accident in which the bench press bar holding 275 lbs slipped and fell onto his neck almost causing him to die. According to his lawyer, a number of other injuries occured due to this incident. The player and his family are sueing the school and former coach, Jamie Yanchar, for medical related expenses, pain and suffering, and loss of future earnings. Johnson says Yanchar was not paying close enough attention and that the accident could have been prevented if he was not distracted by other players. I believe the school should continue to fight the charges because this all happened over a year ago and is just now being brought up. There is no proof that Johnson would have gone pro, so he can not claim that they affected future earnings. It is unfortunate that this occured, but I do not believe it was in any way the coach's fault and that Johnson is being greedy.
