As the previous blog mentioned, the NHL All-Star Game tried to create buzz by instituting a draft as you would see before a dodge-ball game. The best part? Waiting to see who went last.
This year, it was Phil Kessel, who received a good amount of ribbing from Toronto teammates about being picked last. But it didn't come without consolation. Phil received a brand new Honda CR-X (a nice little plug for Honda, who has a sponsorship deal with the NHL) and a $20,000 donation to the charity of his choice under his name.
Seems like a pretty good deal. It does suck for the player picked second to last (Paul Stasny of the Colorado Avalanche), who would walk home empty handed. (As much as a pro athlete would, at least.)
So what do you think of all this flash around the NHL ASG? Personally, I heard more people talking about this game than the Pro Bowl, which I personally found boring.
