O.J. Mayo claims "energy drink"

O.J. Mayo is currently on a 10-game suspension because he tested positive for a DHEA, a substance on the NBA's banned list of performance enhancing drugs. His response, it was an energy drink he bought from a local gas station. He was suspended this past Friday and will return on February 15. This suspension was the end of rough time for Mayo, this season he lost his starting position, fought with a team mate and dealt with tough family issues. He understands that players must be responsible for their actions which includes what they put in their bodies but he still claims innocence. Former Magic player, Rashard Lewis, has a similar issue last season. He said it's pretty much impossible for a player to keep up with everything that is on that list and items on the list are even in cough medicine. Mayo was only being tested because they were suspicious of his first sample taken in November so they called him to inform him they would be testing his alternative sample from the day and this led to his suspension.
